Textual Analysis of Walk this Way Point 11

Cinematography
The shots used in this video are mostly simpe medium wide shots. They often use some panning as well some hand-held movement. At one point there is a high angle shot to show a kind of physical split screen between the two groups. When on stage the camera is closer to the faces of the singers to emphasises that they are currently singing. There are also some hand held shots.

Mise en scene.
There are three different locations used in this video. The first is the band rehearsal place where you find some studio lights as well as the band members and their instruments. The second is separated by a wall ti the band are. Its  the studio where RUN DMC is performing , they have a mixing set some amps 1 dim light bulb and a couple of people watching them. The last set the stage and the audience. there are less props than previous but instead there is professional lighting, a large audience, different colours spotlights and some steps as well as the rest of the band.

Editing.
The editing is relativity slowly at the beginning only cutting between the 2 studios and at one point showing both the studios in a split screen. But then the editing get very fast once the song starts and you always get to see different parts of people playing guitar or singing.

Sound
There is some diabetic sound in this video like people cheering and also some dialogue before the song starts but for the most part it is the song which has guitar, record scratches, rapping and the singing of Steven Tyler.

Textual analysis of Hardest Button to Button Point 11

Mise en scene
In this music video there are quite a few props used mainly musical instruments such as the drum kit, the guitar and the amps. What is notable about them is that they move in stop motion and they leave a trail of equipment behind them also they use the props to make different shapes and formations. Other wise their location seems to be mostly in public places such as parks, roads and the subway station. The two people are mainyl seen playing the instruments and sometimes singing

Edit.
The stop motion is matched to the beat of the song so every beat of the drum or chord of the guitar that is played they more forwards leaving their trail of instruments. Later on in the video they dont follow the beat as much but instead fast forwards and playback the stop motion to give some cool movement effect as well as some sets which rotate and move in stop motion.

Lighting.
The lighting they use throughout this video always seems to be the natural light present so it is mostly sunshine or whit lights from the underground.

Cinematography
The shots and angles they use always seem to be a way away from them as to show of the entire set they have built up and to show of the movement as well. They quite often are moving towards the camera or move a away from it and even if one of the 2 is quite close to the camera the other one tends to be further away. The camera also seems to be usually looking down towards them and some times up at them rather than having it positioned on eye level.

Sound
The only sound used in this video is the music and the song. There are no other outside sounds used

Work and influences of Sabaton Point 10

Sabaton is a Swedish power metal from Fallun Sweden. Their current members consist of Joakim Broden, Par Sundstrom, Chris Rorland, Hannes van Dahl and Tommy Johanson.  They formed in 1999 and since 2005 their infuence in song has been war and more specifically historical war events.

Their genre of music is power metal/ heavy metal and it is heavily influenced by historical war events. As an example their 2008 album "The art of war" was inspired by the brook written by Sun Tzu. They did this to showcase how even though 2000 years after the book was written and the technologies have evolved in a major way all the same tactics are still used.
They generally like to theme all their albums for example their lates album was called the last stand all about battles that were fought between heavily outnumbers soldiers and a bigger foe, and their album heroes focuses on individuals who have done outstanding things in the line of duty.

Sabaton produces typical power metal style music, with a heavy beat and loud vocals. Now their songs are all in english they used to sing in swedish and the labum Corolus Rex was brought out in both english and swedish.

Permission Point 9

Here is a screen shot of the message I sent to sony music the copyright holders of the song that I want to use.

Things to consider: . Colour Point 8

In my final piece I intend to use various filters to change the colour gradient certain parts of my video to contrast between different narratives and to visualise different moods during different parts of my video. The filters would most likely empathise  cold colours such as blues and whites but I also want to use brighter colours in contrast to those filters as actual physical objects which can draw the viewers attention.

In this video colours are animated to draw attention to specific point on the screen while the rest of the video is in darker filters and made to look like old degraded film. This sort of contrast I also wish to achieve in my music video.

Things to consider: Lip syncing. Point 8

I want to use lip syncing to give my video a sense of professionalism and to emphasize the meaning of the lyrics in my song as I feel they play an important role in my video. Very well edited lip syncing can also look incredibly good and can catch viewers attention as the beginning of this music video shows.

Here the directors used two older men to lip sync to a song clearly sung between two very much younger men who also probably do not dress the same way the the men in this video. This gives this video a sense of comedy added to the professional lip syncing. This isn't something I plan on doing with my videos but I want to use lip syncing to add other emotions to my video.

Things to Consider: Stop motion Point 8

In my final piece I intend to use some stop motion to animated movement. Stop motion is an easy way to simulate movement quickly especially over long distances. It can also be used to emphasise the beats of the song. I want to use primarily as a way to move about my character without having to film him moving which can speed up the narrative and possible also create a secondary narrative.

As an example here is a stop motion video at which such stop motion for is used although at a very professional level.

In this video we follow a boy moving through what seems to be his childhood surrounded by toys from movies and other pop culture mostly from the 90's. The entire video seems to be shot in a form of time laps but made to looks like a very high FPS stop-motion. As the child moves he seems to be standing still but it looks almost as if he was teleporting.
