CD sales over the last years ancilliary

Over the last few years sales of CD's have been dropping,but the decline has been slowing down.
In 2015 CD sales dropped by 3.7 percent, where as in 2014 they had dropped by 8 percent, in 2013 they dropped by 12 percent and in 2012 they dropped by a massive 20 percent, all compared to the previous  year. This shows that while still on the decline CD sales have been declining they are still popular and probably will be reduced to a small enthusiast audience.

This probably means artists will need to do more things such as live performaces, tours and streaming services.

Album cover recreation task, ancillary

i have re created the album front and back cover of the first led Zeppelin album.

How are star images used ,ancillary

Having looked into many artists and their work, I have soon realised that artist often use themselves on their ad campaigns and album covers, since many use their face as a recognisable selling point.  This gives fans a recognisable feature they can look out for. Here are some examples of that.

 


But having looked into album cover which are more in the genre of my piece. I have found out that they often use other imagery such as a recognisable logo or simply the artists name in different version. This is usually done with a more artistic approach. Here are some example of that.

Difference in Digipaks and CD cases Ancilliary

There are many differences between a digital and cd cases, I think the main ones are quality, content and price. A digipak usually has more content such as art books, extra cd's with bonus tracks, as well as a more high quality feel. Traditionally they are made of laminated paper with a plastic cd holder or a sleeve/'pouch made of carload in which the cd is kept as well as additional pouches for booklets with art work etc. One of the main downsides of digipaks is the durability, since cardboard easily scuffs and doest fare well when in contact with water. SO they are not as durable as hard plastic cases.

CD cases are usually made of 2 or 3 plastic pieces fitted together with a plastic holder for the actual CD just like you may find them in  the digipaks. Overall they are usually cheaper to buy than digipaks and therefore contain less.But they feature the same artwork at the front and they are more protective than cardboard digipaks.

Font tests for my album cover (ancillary)

I am looking for a font that looks as if it were handwritten. This will make the album look more personal as if it actually belonged to the artist. This will make it more attractive for people to look at especially in my target audience of young-alts.

I looked through an online font database called 1001 fonts, and in the category handwritten I have found these 4 fonts, which are free for personal use. I can always change the colour of the writing but I think I will want to use either a black or white writing for use on my digipak and advertisement.

Promotion And marketing (Ancillary)

I have looked into the last album release of ELO and looked into the design of the album. The first thing that you will see is a large colourful flying saucer type spaceship at the top of the cover. Looking into older albums you will see that that is a recurring image they have used throughout their album releases. This makes it immediately stand out to people as an ELO album and fans will look out for and recognise it in a shop.

Below you will find a young boy sitting on the ground looking up at it and in-between them there is is a large green field illuminated by a search light from the spaceship. This sets the mood of the album which is themed about space exploration and childhood. So this way the album cover portrays the theme very well. And in plain letters at the bottom you can find the title of the album, which shows that most of the importance is on the actual image.

Props and Costumes

I want my cast to wear to casual clothes, which people will wear every day so that my audience could relate to them, so I had just asked them to their normals clothing.


I did not use many props but i had 1 guitar which was held by Fin most of the time.
